Lovely Lily

Lilies are by far my favorite flower.  They exude so much beauty and color.  Lilies are definitely a tropical flower and remind me of Hawaii.  Though I have never physically been to Hawaii, I've been there in my mind, and in my mind I picture myself laying on the sand at sunset, hearing the waves crash, surrounded by palm trees and lovely lilies.  We may not all have the luxury of being able to just hop on a plane and travel to wherever we please, but we can at least IMAGINE we are at a certain place.  One thing that can definitely help spark our imagination of going somewhere in our mind, is a photograph.

Little Details

There are times when I want to shoot something but may not know exactly what at the time.  As much as I aspire to travel the world and shoot everything that I see when I do get the chance to travel, I can find something to shoot even just in my own backyard.  It's the details that really count.  I love this light fixture in the left image here.  Something about it's elegance but wear, at the same time really captures my attention.  I'm also a big fan of The Chronicles of Narnia and whenever I see a lamppost that looks similar to this one, it reminds me of that magical story. Then we have a simple bench in the right image here.  It also is a bit worn but still very beautiful.  Benches, to me, are a symbol of relaxation.  We see them all the time at parks, around town, in buildings, off the street, and we tend to just pass by them but forget to actually take a moment and simply sit.  I was at a park the other day and saw a lovely bench in the shade and decided to make myself comfortable there.  As I sat, I took in the breeze and just relaxed.  Remember to appreciate the simple things in life, because you'll be surprised how those little details can mean so much.

Twistin' Away!

Well spring is here and the weather has been changing.  You know what that also means for this time of year....tornados!  I was actually lucky enough to capture this shot of a tornado right by my house, scary right?! Ok, I have a confession.  This photo is actually photoshopped.  Yup, that spiral form of clouds is completely fake.  I took this photo right before a storm and I loved the look of the clouds.  I thought it would've been epic if there was an actual tornado, so I just decided to add one in myself. Hey, if it's not real then use your imagination and create it.  That's what I LOVE about photography.
